Josh Johnson - Co-op |

| Hey guys! My name is Josh Johnson and I’m a co-op student down here at the Johnson Space Center in Houston. I’m from Zeeland, Michigan and I go to the University of Michigan (Go Blue!) where I am in my third year studying aerospace engineering. I decided to study engineering because I really enjoy problem solving, challenging myself and I wanted to be able to work with the coolest technology around. I picked aerospace engineering specifically because I’m a space junkie and always thought it would be awesome to work on stuff like the space shuttle! I started as a co-op student here back in January and I am just finishing up my first work rotation (we call them tours). I have spent that past few months working in the Structures and Dynamics Branch (ES2) where I have been analyzing the affects of gyrodynamic motion produced inside one of the space station lab modules. This summer I am moving to the Avionics Test and Analysis Branch (EV4) where I am going to help redesign a small communications system, and also help test a new antenna. I can’t even begin to tell you how much I’ve learned in my short time here…being a co-op is the best experience ever! And on top of all that stuff, I get to tell all my friends and family that I work for NASA! Outside of work I keep myself pretty busy by playing on the co-op softball and soccer teams. I also like to play ultimate frisbee with a bunch of the other co-ops and am currently learning how to play the electric guitar. There is so much to do down here and all the other co-ops are really cool too…there’s no way I’m going to want to go home when the summer is over. I’m really looking forward to meeting you all and helping you with your
projects this summer. We’re
gonna have a great week together!
Go white team!! |
