| I am an aerospace engineer
in the Space Shuttle Safety Division but on special assignment with the
Extravehicular (EVA) Project Office and the Medical Sciences Division.
My primary duties include supporting the development of new EVA technologies
and development of medical and health strategies and initiatives to support
extravehicular activities and planetary exploration. Other tasks include
managing technical contracts and internal task agreements and an active
member of the Medical Operations EVA Integrated Product Team (IPT) and
the Radiation IPT.
As a JSC contractor, I worked as a Senior Research Scientist
in the Environmental Physiology Laboratory of the Medical Sciences Division
for six years. Here, I served as Project Manager for several decompression
sickness studies and doubled as the Safety Manager for the support contractor
organization. The next 4-1/2 years was as a System Safety Engineer during
Space Station Freedom working the development of the Crew Health Care
System and the Environmental Control and Life Support System. I came onboard
with NASA in 1995 as Safety Engineer/Industrial Hygienist and worked there
for 3 years.
I have a Bachelor degree in biology/chemistry, a Masters
in environmental management, a Master of Public Health in occupational
health and aerospace medicine, and a doctor of philosophy in theocentric
business and ethics.
I have participated in JSC's National Engineer Week, Open
House, Outreach, Safety and Total Health Day and Inspection activities
and served as a mentor for the Vital Link Program. I am an EEO Counselor
for JSC and served one year on the JSC Safety Action Team. I have also
served as judge for science projects of two Science Fairs at the Astro
Hall.
