Hello. Welcome to Texas Aerospace Scholars Program. My name is Lila Garza. I live in Austin, Texas, and I teach at Fulmore Middle School. It's located about 15 blocks south of the Capitol on Congress Avenue. Currently, I'm teaching 8th grade math, Algebra I, and Algebra II, and I am the math department chair. I've been teaching at Fulmore for 3 years. This is my 7th year of teaching. Previously, I taught at Kealing Magnet Junior High School in Austin and at Gregory-Portland High School near Corpus Christi. I graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with majors in Economics and History.

I was a Teacher Counselor last year in the TAS program. I have also participated in Mars LiftOff at the Lunar and Planetary Institute, and in the NASA Educational Workshop at the Stennis Space Center in Mississippi. My goal is to submit an experiment with students and fly in the KC-135.

In my free time I enjoy hiking and biking the greenbelt and jogging. Recently, I've taken up kayaking. Also, I love to listening to live music, especially blues/rock, salsa, and jazz.
