| My name is Shari Rifkin.
I am 20 years old and am from Atlanta, Georgia.
“I am a Rambling Wreck from Georgia Tech and a Helluva Engineer!”
I am in my second year at Tech and an Aerospace Engineering major. I’ve been a space nut since as long as I can remember.
I think it started when my parents brought me to see Aliens
in the movie theater when I was 4.
I’ve been warped ever since.
I am a huge sci-fi freak.
Some of my favorites include Star Trek, Star Wars, The X-Files, and
the Dune Chronicles by Frank Herbert.
I’ve always known I wanted to do something in the math/science field,
but it took me a while to figure out exactly what.
After doing Space Camp and a couple other science summer programs,
I decided I wanted I wanted to be a Rocket Scientist.
Georgia Tech had a top three AE program (it is now top two), a bunch
of my friends were going there, and to top it all off they offered me a
full scholarship.
I am currently in my second co-op term here at JSC.
I spent my first term in the X-38 Project Office, on the Vehicle
201 Integration Team. The
X-38 is the Crew Return Vehicle for the International Space Station.
I am now in the Exploration Office, on the Advanced Design Team.
I was involved with the High School Outreach Program, in which
the co-ops went to a local high school to talk about NASA and engineering
and college and stuff.

heavens so rich, precisely in order that the human mind shall never be
lacking in fresh nourishment."
