| Hi
there, science enthusiasts! I am Veronica Casas, a native from the
west Texas town of El Paso (to quote
Marty Robbins). I graduated from the University of Texas at El
Paso with a degree in Biology and recently received my Masters Degree
in Education from Sul Ross State University. Currently, I teach Integrated
Physics and Chemistry at San Elizario High School, a rural town south
of El Paso. I have been teaching for five years, all at San Eli. Besides
my teaching assignment, I train others in incorporating and integrating
technology into the science instruction. In addition to being a
part of the Texas Aerospace Scholars program, I have also participated
in the NASA Educational Workshop at Dryden Flight Research Center in Edwards,
California; the best part of my experience was meeting Mr. Mach himself,
Chuck Yeager! During the latter part of this summer, I will be teaching
at John Hopkins University Center for Talented Youth. I plan to use these
experiences to encourage my students in enroll in advance science courses
and to pursue a career in the sciences. My hobbies include traveling
(I even canoed the Susquehanna River!), reading, cooking, watching TLC
and Discovery channels, shopping, listening to most types of music, and
computers (especially Internet and photo editing).
