completion of this unit of instruction, students will be able

- Determine potential sources of water and air
- Describe methods for food production
- Design concepts for living quarters and laboratories
- Determine types of recreational activities and facilities
- Describe transportation methods and equipment
- Identify communication methods and technologies
- Analyze issues related to colony organization
- Compare various terraforming methods, issues, and concerns
- Calculate the orbital velocity of the Mars spacecraft
at the point of departure, when it leaves earth orbit, and
at the point of arrival at Mars
