FINAL PROJECT

As a culmination of your online work as a High School Aerospace Scholar, you are required to submit a final project.  Your final project is due May 25, 2008. 

After you have completed Lessons 1-10 (sent in your assignments and taken your Quick Quizzes), you may begin your final project. Final projects will be posted in the Student Gallery by week and team.  To ensure privacy, your first name only will appear with your final project on the HAS web site.

You should choose a space exploration topic that interests you.  It can be an extension of one of the ten topics you have studied in the previous lessons or a separate subject that is related to space exploration. If you are choosing to study in depth a topic from one of the ten lessons, you can go to the "Extended Mission" section of the unit and review the links and activities for ideas on a final project.

Your project will have two parts. 

The first part is a 1000 word written report over the topic.  The report must include an introduction, the information you researched, your own opinions and ideas, and a conclusion. You need to cite at least 3 sources that you used. These sources can be Web sites, articles, and/or books.   You must submit the essay via the Comm Link.   You can type your essay in a Word document and then copy and paste it into the Comm Link Text Box. 

The second part can be a model, poster, drawing, or a website that illustrates the topic of your essay. If you construct a model or poster, scan a photograph of you and your model or poster and save it as according to the criteria listed below.  If you hand draw a design, scan the drawing that you designed and save it as according to the criteria listed below.  If you create a website, write the link to your website at the end of your essay.

Attach your drawing separately using the Comm Link.  The Comm Link will not accept your file if it does not meet the following requirements:

• It must be saved as a .jpg or a .gif.
• The maximum size limit is 300kb.
• There can not be any spaces in the title. 

Read the rubric carefully to see how your assignment will be graded. You will have points deducted if you do not follow the rubric or if your assignment is late.

Your teacher reviewer will grade your assignment and send comments to you via e-mail within 1 week of the assignment due date.  You may also go to your profile see your current grades.

Make your final project something you will be proud of and that will highlight you as a High School Aerospace Scholar!

Rubric Final Project

Your assignment will be graded on the essay and graphic using the following rubric.   If your assignment is late, points will be deducted as follows:

• If assignment is one day late, 1 point will be deducted.
• If assignment is two or three days late, 2 points will be deducted.
• If assignment is four or five days late, 3 points will be deducted.
• If assignment is six or more days late, 4 points will be deducted.
