Frequently Asked QuestionsFor teams who are selected to participate in MAS, what expenses are covered?MAS is funded by the State of Texas and most of your expenses are covered. The final details for the 2010 workshops are currently in work. This information will be updated before the application deadline. Currently, the following items are covered by MAS: A. Transportation to and from the Johnson Space Center in Houston, TX.
Note - Transportation will be arranged by the JSC Travel Office. DO NOT PURCHASE YOUR OWN AIRFARE. B. Transportation specific to the workshop. C. Lodging at hotel chosen by MAS. All participants must stay at the hotel as assigned for the duration of the workshop. D. Some meals (more detail to be provided at a later date). E. Workshop and materials. What expenses will I be responsible for?A. Some meals (more detail to be provided at a later date). B. $30 Registration fee per person ( to be paid once accepted). C. Souvenirs and other shopping. D. Other expenses during travel such as parking, tolls, telephone calls or other personal charges from the hotel, etc. What expenses will my school be responsible for?A. During the school year, your team will be responsible for conducting 3 distant learning events. Your school will need to cover any expenses associated with the technology (video conferencing), personnel to conduct the events, or travel to a facility with the capabilities to conduct an event. I am not a U.S. citizen. Can I participate in MAS?The MAS workshop is held at NASA Johnson Space Center, a government facility. Due to security requirements, only U.S. citizens are allowed to participate. I am not a Texas resident. Can I participate in MAS?Funding for MAS is provided by the State of Texas, therefore all MAS participants must be Texas residents teaching in a Texas Middle School or Junior High.
